Enrolment Information

Who needs to enrol?

All children of compulsory school age must be enrolled in school and attend every day – this is the law.

In Western Australia, children can start their education in Kindergarten.  Compulsory schooling starts the following year in Pre-Primary.  Every child from Pre-Primary to Year 12 is guaranteed a place at their local public school.

Enrolling your child in Kindergarten

Seaforth Primary School offers a high-quality part-time Kindergarten program.

While it is not compulsory, almost all parents send their children to Kindergarten so children get the best start to learning at school.  To enrol, your child must be four years old by 30 June in the year they attend Kindergarten.

If you are applying to enrol your child in Kindergarten for this year or next year, you can do this now.

You will be informed of the outcome of your application by the school as soon as possible.

Enrolling your child in Primary School – Pre-Primary

Pre-Primary is the first year of compulsory school.  Every child of Pre-Primary age is required to attend school and is guaranteed a place at their local school. To enrol, your child must be five years old by 30 June in the year they attend Pre-Primary.

If your child is currently enrolled in our Kindergarten and you plan to stay at that school for Pre-Primary, you need to complete a Pre Primary Student Update form to ensure all details are correct.  These forms are available from the Administration office and are normally sent home during Term 3.

You can apply to enrol your child now to start Pre-Primary this year or next year.  You will be informed of the outcome of the application by the school as soon as possible.

Follow these easy steps to enrol your child:

Step 1  Contact our school for an application for enrolment.

Step 2  Submit your completed application form (Part A) with copies of:-

  • your child's birth certificate,
  • your child’s Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement, no more than two months old with a status of ‘up to date’ (from Medicare or MyGov);
  • proof of address;
  • copies of any Family Court or other court orders (if applicable); and
  • visa details (if applicable).

Documentation can be submitted by either:-

  • emailing to seaforth.ps@education.wa.edu.au; or
  • putting in an envelope and placing in our letterbox at the front of the school; or
  • delivering to the Administration office between 8:30am and 3:30pm.

If your application for enrolment is approved, there will be more paperwork to complete (Enrolment Form Part B).
